Certified Site Lands First Company
A Missouri-based company will become the first business to locate in a Certified Site Ready industrial park in Decatur. The Adams County Economic Development Corporation says New Prime Inc. hopes to be operating by June creating approximately 45 jobs and investing more than $6 million in the site.
New Prime, Inc. - a division of Prime Inc. from Springfield, Missouri -
will be the first business to locate in Decatur's Certified Site Ready
Industrial Park III. Prime has signed a preliminary contract with Bunge
North America for transportation and logistic services. At the
December 7th meeting for the Decatur City Council the abatement process
was begun with John Hancock's request for a declaratory resolution
designating the land Prime will purchase as an economic revitalization
area. Hancock noted that Prime hopes to be operational by June of 2011
creating 45 to 47 jobs with investments over $6 million at the Decatur
site.
Adams County Economic Development Director, Larry Macklin
remarked that this "is a huge development for Decatur." The Certified
Site Ready status of the industrial park helped "seal the deal" as
Hancock said that if the industrial park would not have been ready for
immediate occupancy Prime "would not be here." Macklin commended, Mayor
John Schultz and all in the city government for their foresight and
efforts in creating the park and making this a reality.
The
public hearings will be held on December 21 at 7:30 pm for the
declaratory resolution and 8:00 pm for the purchase agreement.
