Tax Cut a 'Difference Maker'
A pending cut in the state's corporate income tax is already generating interest among companies looking for new locations. Secretary of Commerce Mitch Roob tells Inside INdiana Business the move by members of the General Assembly to reduce the tax by 2 percent is a "difference maker." One company that appears ready to expand in Indiana due to the tax climate situation is Amazon.com (Nasdaq:AMZN). Tennessee is considering changes to its tax regulations and that has the internet retailer contemplating abandoning distribution centers in the state.The company's vice president for public policy Paul Misener tells the Chattanooga Times Free Press, "why not go to Indiana where we're welcome?"
Amazon.com has distribution centers in Whitestown and Plainfield.
