Latest Investment News from Illinois

Abengoa Bioenergy, Madrid, Spain, which has its U.S. headquarters in St. Louis, has invested $300 million in constructing an ethanol plant in Madison, IL.  This investment has created 80 direct jobs with the knock on effect of 900 indirect jobs.  There are plans to build a second ethanol plant in IL and construction will start in about one year’s time.   Also, Louis Vetter Pharma International GmbH, a biopharmaceutical contract manufacturing company from Germany, have located the company’s first domestic facility in Skokie, Illinois. The company have moved into a 22,000 sq ft facility at the Illinois Science and Technology Park. Vetter’s investment is estimated at  $12 million.

Winergy Drive Systems Corp. and Siemens Drive Technologies officially opened a second plant in Elgin, IL that will create approximately 355 new jobs. Wind turbine drive gears will be assembled and tested at the new $20 million facility. The 170,000 square-foot new plant is expandable up to 330,000 square feet. Winergy is the largest producer of wind turbine gear drives in the U.S.

Ripack,le Haillan, France, and eSight Energy, Swavesey, Cambridge have opened offices in Illinois over the past six months.
