Syngenta doubles Lone Tree

Tax benefits from the High Quality Jobs Creation (HQJC) program were awarded by the Iowa Department of Economic Development to Syngenta Seeds, Inc. for expansion of its plant on Highway 22 near Lone Tree.

Syngenta is making a $34 million capital investment that will add six new full-time positions, a new 200,000 sq. ft. facility for husk and sort activities, cob and chopped materials load out, a building for shelling and pre-cleaning and two 30,000 bushel dryers.

The Lone Tree facility produces 2 million to 2.5 million acres of corn annually for seed companies such as NK (formerly Northrup King), Golden Harvest, Garst and others.

Syngenta, a leading global agribusiness company, operates 11 Iowa facilities that employ 335 full-time and nearly 140 part-time employees.

Iowa City Area Development Group, Johnson County and the Iowa Department of Economic Development worked to assist the Syngenta Seeds expansion project.
